Long Range Planning
The Engineering Division of Public Works is committed to ensuring the infrastructure of Cornelius supports the city's growth and development. Our team works on a variety of projects that enhance public infrastructure, from design and planning to implementation. These efforts are guided by careful analysis, community input, and the expertise of professional engineers and consultants. Through thoughtful, long-term planning, we aim to create infrastructure solutions that meet the evolving needs of our city while maintaining safety, sustainability, and efficiency.
On June 1, 2020, the Cornelius City Council adopted the latest amendment to the 2018 Cornelius Transportation System Plan (TSP). The 2018 Cornelius TSP project updated the 2005 TSP to reflect physical changes, including the 2014 addition of lands to the regional Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) and regulatory changes that have occurred in the City, region, and State of Oregon. The adopted TSP also provides a 20-year horizon for transportation planning and identifies projects and programs designed to achieve the City's objectives.

The Water Master Plan was developed in 2017 to guide the city's investments in the public drinking water system. The plan updates the city's February 2004 Water Master Plan. It includes an evaluation of the system and preparation of a 20-year capital improvement plan.
The plan was developed to fulfill the state's requirements for water system master plans found in OAR 333-061-0060 (5).
The master plan will be adopted by the City Council once the finance chapter of the plan is complete.
