About the Photos of the mural artist Jojo Ruby and the muralMural

Cool blues, soft greens, rich earth tones, with a bright background hosting pops of sunrise yellow, orange, pink and gold.

This mural is a celebration of the Tualatin River’s beauty and value. In the scene, the Riverkeepers’ mascot, the green heron, flies over a new dawn, carrying a banner that reads “Todo Fluye Hacia el Rio Tualatin. All Drains to Tualatin River.” Below, the river winds through a dreamlike landscape. The message is simple but powerful: everything we put on the ground finds its way to the river. What we do matters. At Its heart, this mural is about attention and care—about inviting people to look more closely at the world around us and remember we are a part of it. Sparking some curiosity and giving people a sense of wonder, as well as responsibility for the place we call home.

Artist Statement / Bio

Jojo Ruby is an emerging non-binary artist currently attending PCC. They enjoy working with themes of transformation, ecology, and connection. Their background is in mural and installation art, where they often use surreal or symbolic imagery to explore real-world ideas. They describe their painting style as "magical realism" as their practice is rooted in the belief that art can shift how people see and feel about the world around them. They are especially drawn to public art, and how it can create connective moments in shared spaces—offering an invitation to pause, look, and feel something together.
