Volunteers & Staffing

The Cornelius Fire Department is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by a dedicated team of 11 employees. Each shift is composed of 3 career firefighters and 2 student firefighters, ensuring consistent emergency response coverage around the clock. In addition to the shift personnel, the department includes a daytime captain who provides operational and administrative functions during regular business hours, and a fire chief who leads the department and oversees all administrative and strategic functions.

The department's capabilities are further enhanced by a committed group of volunteer firefighters who support emergency response and community service efforts. This combination of career, student, and volunteer personnel allows the Cornelius Fire Department to maintain a high level of service and readiness for the community it serves.
