Overview

Founded in 2017, the Cornelius Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a rad crew on a mission to steer the future of the Cornelius community by diving into city policies, programs, and projects!

2025 to 2026 Youth Advisory Council

Applications to join the 2025 to 2026 Youth Advisory Council are now open.

Requirements

• Must be in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade
• Live within the City of Cornelius

Application Process

• Complete the application (PDF).
• Return complete applications to Cornelius City Hall (1355 N Barlow Street, Cornelius, OR 97113) or via email to our Community Engagement Manager.
• Candidates may be asked to participate in an interview process.
• 5 to 20 students are selected to serve on the Youth Advisory Council each year.

YAC Goals

Members work to promote an understanding between local youth and local government by:

• Find creative ways to educate the general public concerning issues affecting Cornelius's youth.
• Provide review and comment to elected officials and City decision-makers regarding public issues, projects and proposals that have an impact on youth.
• Work with City Council, City departments, Forest Grove/Cornelius Chamber of Commerce, civic groups and other community organizations to create civic engagement opportunities for local youth.
